Back again

Reba is expecting pups and is due anytime now so as she was yelping again this morning and as there was a strange whiff around her coupled with not having done a number two I took her back to the vet. Thankfully all was well, the strange whiff soon diagnosed as blocked anal glands and the slight aroma became a toxic cloud akin to fermenting mackerel dressed with rotting frogs as the brave vet unblocked the glands while I tried to placate a violated mum to be. Pups are still inside. We are waiting patiently for their arrival.

Breaking news.....

We had hoped but were not sure. Reba was acting pregnant coming over all Diva like, counter surfing and developing an intolerance to cats. The final stages of pregnancy, which would be now would be milk production, check, walking funny, check and a large belly. Not check. So we were pondering a phantom pregnancy and endlessly speculating should we shouldnt we take her for a scan. Late last night as she got her good night pat she yelped in pain, and this continued through the night, move, yelp, roll over yelp, so this morning she was taken to our second home, the vets, and given the all clear. Fit. Healthy. No infections. Two extra heartbeats. May be three. So our Reba is defo preggers and Reuben is not a Jaffa as he is the daddy. Fingers crossed now for the next few days as she has between 6 and 8 to go, that all goes well and we get at least two clan members delivered safely!

Two down

Two more Berners left Rock HQ today. Lucy (Rocky's mum) and Chester (his brother) were reunited with their owner taking us down to 8, one over the norm.
Biffer is still chilling out, hes here for a while longer, then we will only have have the Magnificent 7 to contend with once again.

Big is best

There is an idea that Berners should be smaller, some breeders are deliberately mating small dogs. We like ours big. Like Biffer from the class of 2010.

Reunited

This is Bella with her owner Hayley, and Hayley's mum Simla (Hayley's Dad Paul is turning the car round and not at all concerned that I called him Steve throughout the visit) Bella looks very happy to be reunited with her owner
and makes sure she is not going to be left behind by trying to get into her pocket. We loved having Bella to stay and hope she comes for her holiday next year. Then there is the Dolyhir Bernese Mountain Dog Treasure Hunt 2012........

Little and Large

Who would have thought that these two lovely Berners are brother and sister from the same litter! This is Biffer (aka Fatboyslim) and Bella (aka PG ((tealeaf))) Biffer is the large cuddly monster. Both from the class of 2010.
Bella was the smallest pup of the litter and half her brothers weight at birth. Pretty much nothings changed then!
