There seems to be glitch with the Dolyhir Bernese Mountain Dog site, normal service will be resumed as soon as we find out which lever to pull. Meanwhile for those of you wondering how the clan is doing here is a pic of the Rockmeister meditating on the slope of Oak Bank. The red eyes are from the burning fires of desire as he has just been told one of his loves, Molly, is returning to Rock HQ on monday. This is very exciting news, meanswhile we shall Keep Calm and Carry On.

Scam Warning

We found a scam advert on a site with a similar name to pets for homes, from someone down south of England way claiming to have 3 bitches and 2 dogs for sale. There are immediate signs that this is a con advert as the price the pups are advertised at are £330 and claiming to be pedigree and KC registered. If you respond you get an email that was very similar to an email from a scam a couple of years back asking for loads of details about you, your house, income and inside leg measurement (I made that last bit up) and giving a load of tosh about how the puppies are cared for.  There are no puppies and no doubt the whole point of the advert is to get the unwary or desperate to part with their cash upfront. Buyer beware.

Seems so long ago!

 Its only been two weeks since the 1st Annual Dolyhir Bernese Mountain Dog Treasure Hunt, seems a lot longer, and we are still getting to grips with the number of pictures taken. So here are three more, Elsa and Elea here with Sonja their owner.

Rocky the clan patriarch had an extra special dinner for fathers day, well he is a dad 32 times. Here he is with Buddy, his son with Molly. He is hoping she is going to visit again soon.

Talking about my generation!

 Pictures are still coming in of the treasure hunt, here's one of my favourites taken by Glenn, Buddy's owner, of three generations of Berners.

Lucy is the first Berner we met when we moved to Rock HQ, she is mum to Rocky and Chester. Rocky is Dolyhir Clan Chieftain and he met Molly, owned by Leanne, and they had a lovely set of pups, one of which was Buddy. And this is the family group in front of the aviary.

Fans of the Clan

We had some return visitors last night, Buddy's clan (hes the clean dog on the right) came for dinner and to see our clan. Rocky is Buddy's dad, they look very alike. Buddy is a great dog and it was fantastic to see him again. Looking forward to the 2nd Annual Dolyhir Treasure Hunt next year!

New additions!

Nala, one of the class of 2009, has been a very clever girl and had 6 lovely pups making the Dolyhir Clan bigger and Rocky a Grandad!

Hounds for Heros

 Still not had time to write up properly the 1st Annual Dolyhir Bernese Mountain Dog treasure hunt, even less time to collate the photos from several cameras and from different dog owners (I didn't take as many as planned as I was a bit busy) but until I do get a chance to report in full I would just like to say a big thank you to all the Berner owners who turned out to support the event. There were at various times 18 or so Bernese Mountain Dogs here at HQ, plus a collie (one of our previous rescues) and a German Shepherd Dog.

 Most of the Berners here were related to this handsome chap, the Rockmeister, those that were not related were girlfriends (player!) and a lovely Great Swiss, who shares the ancestry of the Berner but is a short haired bigger version, same colouring, lovely temperament.

All the dogs and most of the owners completed the treasure hunt, the winners got a prizes supplied by our kind sponsors Wagg Dog Foods, so thanks to Dalton their dog for making that happen.

In all it was a very successful day, we raised a substantial amount for charity, the grand total is yet to be realised with other donations coming in. In all it was hard work but worth doing and we look forward to the next one same sort of time in 2013. More will follow on this blog, lots more pics of the day but meantime here is a big thank you to our sponsors and helpers on the day.

Dolyhir Bernese Mountain Dog Treasure Hunt

 The day dawned, the trail was set over the Bonsai Mountain which is in the distance.

 There were loads of Berners.

I did it my way

 The Dolyhir Clan prepared for tomorrows treasure hunt in different ways. Spotty conserved his energy ready for the charge around the trail searching for clues.

 Dotty WooZah tried to get some of the mud off her coat by playing in the straw.
