Look closer

The eyes are almost open! The pups are walking rather than wriggling and theres lots of tail wagging going on. Tomorrow their eyes should be fully open and then we can look out! Reba had her stitches out today, both she and the vet are fine.

Little Mo

This is little Mo, hes not that little but he is smaller than the rest of Team GB by 2 ounces. Weekly weigh in figures in a couple of days but most have already put on 4 ounces.

Looking good

Reba is doing really well with her pups, all four of Team GB are growing rapidly and we saw the first signs of tail wagging today. Bradley looks like he is trying to open his eyes, a bit early but as he is such a chunky pup its hardly surprising.

Call of duty

Low cloud and heavy rain but we still went for our walk!

Gesundheit!

Reuben having a high speed nasal malfunction

Too cute for words!

Me, I come from a land down under!

This is a Berner that barks with an Australian accent, there are only 2 Berners in South Australia and Penny is one of them. I have been told to point out that not all Australians look like soap actresses, but Danni does.

Team GB

The Olympic squad are doing fine here at Rock HQ.
Rocky has gone to stay with Elsa for a dirty weekend so its a bit quieter here with only six Berners in the house!

Back in the room

Reba was pretty out of it last night so we kept a close eye on her. I say we, I would have had I not been asleep so Tracey did the most checking.
At sparrows fart Reba was still having post med hallucinations but was a bit more comfortable in the whelping box.
Late lunch saw her get a bit of an appetite going.
And by dinner time she was back to her mental self. Ripley, Jess, Bradley and Mo are all doing well. Portraits to follow.

Where to start?

I think I should start by saying thank yous to the vets who once again performed miracles. So thanks to Ian, Ericka, Iris, Wendy and Emit.
Reba entered first stages of labour late last night so we had a pretty sleepless time watching over her. By morning there were more signs of new clan members, she puked, collected a dozen or so soft toys and lay looking mental in her bed. Well not exactly her bed, little Miss got turfed out but in the eyes of a hormone charged mum to be it was hers.
I went to work.
Tracey took over.
Reba pushed, and pushed and pushed and got nowhere except the vets. Vet said go home. I got told current events so did exactly that and got home just in time to help ease Bradley out of Reba's tuppence. He weighed in at 16 ounces. An hour passed and so we went back to the vet as Reba had stopped pushing. Once at vets vet got a reminder that leaning in to the back of an almost four by four with a new mum and pup inside was a risky business (Reba didn't bite but let everyone in the car park know that if she wanted to she could swallow whole) and after Reba was injected with pushing medicines we went home to wait. Back at the ranch a pup called Jess fell out weighing in at 14 ounces and so began a long afternoon. Reba fell asleep, so did the rest of the cottage except yours truly and after 5pm I called vet and asked if it was alright to come back just to give her the once over to be doubly sure she was only having two. We were only expecting two, and a boy and a girl was fine.
Back at vet a couple of them groped around Reba's undercarriage, a scan later and another pup was inside still. Emergency c section, and I got to stay in and watch the lot, and out popped Mighty Mo 450 grammes, another boy. He was very dead. For a long time. But Ericka would not give in and after what was a lifetime Mo spluttered into being. Ian carried on messing around with Reba's plumbing and all seemed to be over when, after declaring that she had the biggest uterus he had ever seen he found a mighty lump of puppy under the ribs. Out came Ripley 550 grammes, also very dead until Wendy, spurred on by the success of Ericka, revived Ripley, a girl and suddenly we had double the number of pups. Reba was spayed and put back together and within minutes feeding all four. Safe back home we are ready for another sleepless night as we make sure she does not squish any of the precious pups. All is well. Thank you Arrowfield Vets for all your help.

Almost there

Reba is giving us all the signs that new clan members are on their way.
Digging under the dining table, making use of all the soft furnishings and suddenly developing an intolerance to the rest of the clan are all signs that things are happening. We contacted the vet again, not that we are panicking. Reba's having pups.
Meanwhile we are having kittens!
