Top of the class!

Heres some more pics on Morgan, Reuben's brother who has just had an interesting time at puppy training classes. Here he is bathed ready to go.

Then theres Wanda keeping a firm grip on her charge as he marvels at all the different things that are called "dogs", just before being pulled into the centre of the hall, well they are cart and sled dogs so no real surprise there then.

The one next to him is almost an acceptable size, a Vishla, but Morgan has his eye on the fat hamster types .Wanda, like many of us found that these precious charges were picked up out of harms reach as her monster puppy tried to make their acquaintance. Stories abound of playful Berners at puppy classes thinking the Chihuahua is the latest squeaky toy and has been provided for their entertainment. Morgans playful advances were spurned by the toy dog brigade and they tut tutted looked on with envy as the class leaders used Morgan as their demonstration dog and posed for pictures with such a handsome lad. He really does look like he is going to be a massive Berner.

After all the hard work he's worn out and needs a bit of a nap. Bless.

Reba is our self appointed top dog wears herself out keeping everyone in order. These pictures take today show there were

hardly enough places at Rock HQ to get some quality sleep.

Fit or Fat?

Rocky is our first Berner, he is adorable, obviously, and now and then he gets put in the shower room, the worst of the farmyard is hosed off him, a quick once over with the brush, say quick it takes three times longer than it should as he decides its more fun to be chased around the sofas than stand and be coiffured, then we spend the next few hours hoping he stays clean long enough to be judged in a local show.

The top two pics are him in the Honda doing a Donkey from Shrek, are we there yet? He gets bored easily.

The next two pics are the star of the show and yours truly just before we enter the arena. Don't be fooled by the blue sky, the torrential rain for the last 24 hours turned the show ground into a swamp with mud deeper than on our yard! The show attracted the usual collection of amateurs hoping for a pretty rosette and professionals hoping to crush the enthusiasm of the newcomers with their air conditioned dog carriers and inflatable pet salons. Anyway, our lad did well, not as well as we would have hoped but a second out of 8 entries was a credible performance. We were told afterwards that the Judge thought Rocky superb, just needed a better covering. Fat he's talking about, Rocky is exceptionally fit, but unlike his owner has not an ounce of fat on him. According to the owner of the winning dog, which to me looked fat, the dog, not the owner, fit dogs never win. Funny old game this dog showing.

Torrential rain meant the evening stroll was more like a swim, Bliss shakes off the excess dampness catching Auntie Montana, not too sure what Spotty thought he was doing here

and Poor WooZah just looked desperate to get back indoors!

WooZah almost makes it, then decides the nettles are just too thick and takes the long way round!

Reba has had her "baby" taken off her so she is sulking like only a Berner can. Rocky is trying to cheer her up but she's having none of it.

Name that tune!

Reba has always been a musical sort, the Bernese Mountain Dog choir leader is pictured here singing to herself in the Cauldron. Being top dog she takes the lead in most things here at Rock HQ, including leading bizarre behaviour. We think she is having a phantom pregnancy at the moment, a green very unlike a puppy chewy toy has been adopted and everyone is being warned off it while she nurses it. Today she carried it upstairs and while Tracey left the bedroom to have a shower took the opportunity to make herself comfy on the bed, obviously expecting Tracey to return. Well she did but only to shut the door. Two hours later a very mournful song from the top of the stairs alerted us to the fact that Reba was lonely and wanted a baby sitter.
