If she isn't, shes the best looking!

Posh Dog

This is quite a regal pose from Bliss, covered in mud obviously, but still a posh dog.

News on Biffer, one of this years litter, poor lads had an accident and broken his toe! This is nastier than it sounds and the brave Berner has chewed his dressings off, several times, so its going to take a while to heal. As its such a wide break unless it heals quickly he will either have to have it amputated or externally pinned and so off his feet for weeks!

A grand day out

Morgan took his owners to the Kennel Clubs Bernese Mountain dog day to show them how big he will get, what hobbies he would like to take up and how well behaved Bernese Mountain Dog Owners en masse.
Morgan, Reuben's "little" brother is showing all the signs of being a fantastic example of the breed, we shall have to keep in touch with Wanda and make sure we don't enter the same shows!
The carts look splendid, and the barding or coats are a new item to us so thanks for the pic.
Morgans signed up for cart classes. One of ours, Spotty is being measured for a dog rig, having met up with the England champion musher I was able to pick his brains about the kit needed, the training necessary and the amount of time I could expect to spend in casualty while dog and rig continued over hills and far away.

Mine!

Spotty and his obsession with tree trunks took on a new twist today when he jumped into the pig pen and tried to
make off with their teething log, they like to chew this from time to time, Spotty decided he wanted it and

managed to move it from the mud before he was spotted by the pigs who made him out it back.

A quiet cuppa

A short sit down to enjoy a quick cuppa during today's labours on the smallholding.
The Berners decided they wanted to join me
and as you can see their enthusiasm

is overpowering.

Top of the class!

Heres some more pics on Morgan, Reuben's brother who has just had an interesting time at puppy training classes. Here he is bathed ready to go.

Then theres Wanda keeping a firm grip on her charge as he marvels at all the different things that are called "dogs", just before being pulled into the centre of the hall, well they are cart and sled dogs so no real surprise there then.

The one next to him is almost an acceptable size, a Vishla, but Morgan has his eye on the fat hamster types .Wanda, like many of us found that these precious charges were picked up out of harms reach as her monster puppy tried to make their acquaintance. Stories abound of playful Berners at puppy classes thinking the Chihuahua is the latest squeaky toy and has been provided for their entertainment. Morgans playful advances were spurned by the toy dog brigade and they tut tutted looked on with envy as the class leaders used Morgan as their demonstration dog and posed for pictures with such a handsome lad. He really does look like he is going to be a massive Berner.

After all the hard work he's worn out and needs a bit of a nap. Bless.
