Heavy Metal at A and E

This poor lad had a bit of an accident this evening which meant he and I spent two hours at the vets waiting to be patched up. Spotty chose peak lambing time so while there were two vets in practice one was up to its elbows in a sheep on a farm miles away, the other, a nice chap called Ian acted as triage while disappearing to furtle around with sheep's intestines at the same time as dealing with Spotty.Spotty was having his usual romp on the bonsai mountain when he mis judged a jump and landed on a barbed wire fence. He hung around crying in pain while yours truly attempted the 100 metre uphill record for a fat bloke and lifted heavy panic stricken dog off the wire. Rocky came to assist and in doing so got a bite on the nose for his trouble as Spotty now a frantic Berner blamed Rocky for the pain in his leg. A quick dash to the vets and Spotty was given first class first aid, his leg shaved, the wound cleaned, only when he was given local anesthetic did he start to object so had to be sedated. Poor lad went over like a sack of spuds and dozed while his wound had 9 metal staples to keep it together. Ian did a grand job and pretty soon Spotty was back on his feet, albeit wobbly, and we were allowed home. He's feeling pretty sore and sorry for himself now, curled up asleep on a duvet in the lounge. Poor lad.
