Where has the time gone...

Hayley sent some lovely pics of Bella, one of this years litter, and the question is where has the time gone? It wasn't long ago that this lovely Berner was the smallest Berner in the litter, and we seriously thought about keeping her as she was just so adorable. But Hayley's need was greater than ours and she is clearly looking after her very well.
Heres a pic of Bella with Taz, Hayley's boyfriends dog. Taz must be related to Pip our Collie cross, they are almost identical.
Like all good pups Bella takes Hayley training, she is doing well, and as usual the Berner is the best looking dog at the class.

Clever girl!

This is Lucy, in a pic taken what seems like such a long time ago, pre helipad. Anyway nine weeks ago, there or thereabouts, shes on a lead as we were getting to know her, soon she was off just the rest of the clan, theres Auntie Montana in the background, then HPD, or Harvey Puppy Dog who was here on his hols, and right at the back looking very pleased with himself is the Rockmeister himself, Rocky, our top male Berner. Top as he has sired three litters. That's right, Lucy has given birth to six very healthy pups this morning, the wait is over for Gina her owner and her family. They now have four male pups and two females, all a healthy weight and more than likely destined to stay with Gina as they have all chosen a favourite to keep and as she has five children there are only just enough pups to go around! Gina's email is down at the moment but as soon as the little gremlins are chased out of the system and photos of the pups arrive you can rest assured they will be published here!

Berner teamwork!

Bliss. WooZah and Montana all decide to give Spotty a hand with his latest stick
not sure he appreciates their help
or that they achieve much
but it kept them all occupied for a while. Any one interested in video clips of our Berners can see them on You Tube TV. Look under talesfromtherock channel.

Fair weather Berners

October at Rock HQ, and the average monthly rainfall here is 5 inches. Today we had three inches of rain in around 9 hours. The Berners were up for the challenge and braved the deluge.

They stood guard while I carried the buckets!

Posh Dog

This is quite a regal pose from Bliss, covered in mud obviously, but still a posh dog.

News on Biffer, one of this years litter, poor lads had an accident and broken his toe! This is nastier than it sounds and the brave Berner has chewed his dressings off, several times, so its going to take a while to heal. As its such a wide break unless it heals quickly he will either have to have it amputated or externally pinned and so off his feet for weeks!

A grand day out

Morgan took his owners to the Kennel Clubs Bernese Mountain dog day to show them how big he will get, what hobbies he would like to take up and how well behaved Bernese Mountain Dog Owners en masse.
Morgan, Reuben's "little" brother is showing all the signs of being a fantastic example of the breed, we shall have to keep in touch with Wanda and make sure we don't enter the same shows!
The carts look splendid, and the barding or coats are a new item to us so thanks for the pic.
Morgans signed up for cart classes. One of ours, Spotty is being measured for a dog rig, having met up with the England champion musher I was able to pick his brains about the kit needed, the training necessary and the amount of time I could expect to spend in casualty while dog and rig continued over hills and far away.
