Sad Loss

We like to keep in touch with the offspring of the Rockmeister, the Dolyhir Clan and associated members is widespread and we have a lot of fun hearing about the antics of the Berners.
Yesterday we were alerted to the very sudden and tragic death of Drogba, a fantastic Berner owned by Leti and Steve, a pup from Rocky and Sally. Drogba was a very happy well cared for totally adored Berner and as a result of a tragic accident with a dog toy has died. The poor lad was off his food so taken to the vet by his parents, the vet found a peice of rope chewy toy lodged in his gut so operated to remove it, sadly, although the brave Berner survived the operation he passed away the following day. Leti and Steve are devastated at the loss of their handsome lad. Their words are below.
"Drogba was happy and bubbly, he really had a mind of his own. He was really intelligent and mischievous and learned to open all sorts of doors, move sofas around so he could take a nap near our feet. He loved water and would want to jump in every puddle or river, or the paddling pool we got for him in the garden (not sure that was big enough), I don't think I've have ever seen a dog like him and we loved him so much. He was an absolute star in obedience class, we took him every Sunday so he played with all his doggy friends and always came back home knackered, and often very muddy ! We have so many tales about him and we still laugh when we think about all the things he has done. And miss him so much..."

Its always hard to find words to console owners when their beloved pet has gone, more so when its a beautiful young bouncy Berner like Drogba. His time on earth however brief was well spent, he brought joy to all he met and he is a clan member who will be remembered with love.

  2. That is terrible news. He's Maia's brother and they are the image of each other! Please pass our condolences on to Leti & Steve, I can't imagine how they must be feeling. Will send a picture of Maia soon.
